Worldvision
Those living in poverty are rarely alone - the world’s poorest people often live side-by-side with many others dealing with the same problems and the same need. World Vision’s aim is to not only help those in need, but to unite them in their common cause: to live a life free of hardship.
World Vision focuses on creating communities and networks of people in order to present a stronger front when challenging injustice. And despite having a Christian basis to their work, World Vision is determined to provide aid irrespective of religion, race or ethnicity.
With almost 50 years of experience behind it, this charity is always on hand to provide disaster relief. Its 30 thousand staff members can be at the scene of a disaster between 24 and 72 hours after it happens, ready to save lives. In 2007 alone they were present at 85 of these devastating events, helping millions of people pick up the pieces.
On a more daily basis, World Vision is committed to advocacy, lobbying governments to ensure the voices of the poor, disabled and sick are heard by those with the power to change their lives. You can help with your donation, no matter how small.
from £2 a month
Rather than just ask for your money, World Vision gives generous donators the chance to buy a quirky gift that will help others. For £9 you can buy a tap that helps provide clean water, or 10 fruit trees to provide essential nutrition. A goat will provide milk and costs just £18, while £12 can feed 70 children. Their gifts keep on giving, and just a few pounds is all it takes for you to make that difference.
